Our Story
Roslyn, who started an accessible transportation program in Solano County was inspired by her elderly mother Maye, and her paraplegic brother Kevin. Kevin was severely disabled midlife by a diseased known as necrotizing fasciitis. After over 100 surgeries and severed nerves throughout his entire body, Kevin became paralyzed and needed 24/7 support. The disease poisoned Kevin’s right leg which ultimately had to be amputated. Things that Kevin was once able to do without thinking, such as sitting up or simply turning over, required assistance from another abled body person. Kevin had to learn how to navigate through life and live (somewhat independently) with this new physical disability. Kevin had in-center dialysis treatments three times per week in addition to multiple doctor appointments throughout the month. Both Kevin and Maye had ongoing difficulty getting rides to their medical appointments, and recreational outings. However, before succumbing to his illness, Kevin helped his sister Roslyn create this company to meet his need of wanting to go places and be outdoors and participate in life.
